Wow. It’s been a few months since I last posted music from then-frequent-guest (maybe too frequent) tehloki. We’re nearing the end of his Mefi Music output to date. And the time delay on this podcast – a bit under four years, right now – makes for some interesting verb tenses. Perhaps he’ll release more music by the time the podcast catches up? I hope so.
1988 is very 80’s synthpop, sort of contemplative and determined, I think. It’s named after the era it evokes, and the year god particle was born (!) .
My Generation Remix is a loopy and groovy dance song, based on samples of the classic rock tune, The Who’s “My Generation.”
They Glow is a roaring if harshly electronic techno song.
Sparks is another brilliant piece by Sir Mildred Pierce; it’s laid-back and mellow, a bit loopy. This samples an artist that Sir Mildred Pierce discovered from a a movie – so, it’s fitting that the video for the song samples that movie.
Elves in Iceland is a mellow, cool, and layered instrumental piece, with a banjo, an acoustic guitar, and the return of the fistdrum.
Thunder is an awesome loud & glitchy techno track. It’s a bit harsh and industrial, but it’s got a good beat.
Dub Dub is an awesome techno song, quick-moving with glitch, squeaky synths, and farty bass.
Blast Off Forever is a sweeping and epic theme for a sadly non-existent video game, a synth-based song that would be great for an action montage.
Welcome Coma is intrumental electronica, initially synth-based chiptune-like, shifting into ambient and noise. Recorded live!
Confession is a chill trip-hop beat, just the instrumental background.
Take Five is a cover of the Paul Desmond song, done capably with two acoustic guitars. It’s originally performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet.
Overload is an instrumental piece with piano and strings, like the soundtrack for someone deducing what is really going on.
she’s sleeping is a quiet and loopy song – just an acoustic guitar. It’s soothing.
A Familiar Tune is a cheesy dance synth-based mashup. I caught the use of Pachelbel’s Canon and the Pet Shop Boys’ “Go West,” but I didn’t catch Puff the Magic Dragon and the Soviet national anthem by myself.
slinky saturday is a soothing and instrumental ode to sunshine.
Whiskey Pearl is a fun acoustic bluegrass tune, with the focus on intricate banjo work.
Planetarium Disco is a happy bouncy techno track, with the synths I like, rolling along in a dense and noodly way.

Threnody is an atmospheric & dreamy piece, mostly driven by one guitar with reverb.
Stillekes is an experimental intrumental track, very minimalistic and loopy – a bit hypnotic, gradually shifting.
Spooky Bitch is an instrumental and noodly synth tune. Kinda groovy.
Profiling is IDM – intelligent dance music – a bit droney and hypnotic / repetitive, but not too ambient for my tastes. It shifts slowly.

Attack of the Pasta Party Pirates is a jazzy jam, with quite a few instruments represented: oboe and alto sax are unusual here. Fun!

Joyride is happy electronica, with a cheesy bouncy synth. (I like farty bassy synths.)
