Today by willc

Today is a goofy little, slightly disjointed, sorta-college rock song, with absurdist (and not entirely work-safe) lyrics, and music including a ukelele and drum machine. And, I think, a bass guitar groove.

It’s willc’s first time on the podcast, with the latest song he’s posted.

In Your Face (demo) by frenetic

In Your Face (demo) is a fun little electronic rock song. It’s a nice head-bobbing song, with outbreaks of guitars.

Just This Once by MaiaMadness

Just This Once is, well, a great, angry, and woman-fronted rock song.

Fuck You You Fucking Fuck by Astro Zombie

Fuck You You Fucking Fuck is a very sweary song – lofi punk rock, with shouted vocals and, unusually, ukeleles.

I love how different it is from yesterday’s song.

Live Life by InfidelZombie

Live Life is a cover of the Kinks song – it’s just a fun lofi and NSFW rock song.

Rewrite by cortex

Rewrite is a plucky musically-upbeat rock song, with banjo and guitars. Lyrically, it’s a big dislodged chunk of post-breakup catharsis.

It’s from cortex’s “record an album in a month” challenge, which produced Inchoatery, which has gotten some play here.

Benny Ain’t a Thang by orville sash

Benny Ain’t a Thang is a hip-hop and pop-jazz mashup – “Money Ain’t a Thang” by Jay-Z and “Yakety Sax” by Boots Randolph, well-known as “The Benny Hill Song.” It’s NSFW and bouncy and happy and oh yes an earworm.

Whispers by Mz_Jai

Whispers is a goth-industrial / techno song – a dance song with lyrics that are not entirely safe for work.

This is Mz_Jai’s only song to date. Check her profile; her website’s a link to her band’s website, with more music there.

Feel Free! Plastic Surgery! (demo) by frenetic

Feel Free! Plastic Surgery! (demo) is an upbeat and happy song, with slightly less optimistic lyrics – cutting, even – about plastic surgery. I like this as it is, with weird instruments in the background, like the beatboxing, other mouth noises, and the swelling horns.

The final version – on Guess Who’s a Mess and on Soundcloud – loses some of the goofy instrumentation, and some of the charm, though your mileage may vary.

Hallelujah! (So Very NSFW Mix) by askmeaboutLOOM

Hallelujah! (So Very NSFW Mix) has first-rate music – a choir! an organ! – and really, really sexual lyrics.

This concludes Hallelujah Week. Probably.

Edit: Whoops, I forgot to attach the MP3. Fixed!

Makin’ Steps by InfidelZombie

Makin’ Steps is a angry, speedy, short, and NSFW punk rock song.

hypotech by dobie

hypotech is a loping rock song, in the old school “roots” mode.

The Turducken Song by millipede

The Turducken Song is a ukelele-backed indie pop duet which is a filthy ode to Easter. And it’s NSFW. Really.

Dub Dub by god particle

Dub Dub is an awesome techno song, quick-moving with glitch, squeaky synths, and farty bass.

Punch ‘Em In The Dick by mediocre

The release of the instant classic Punch ‘Em In The Dick was a momentous and historic occasion for Metafilter Music. It’s a NSFW hip-hop track, with a deceptively dumb sound and topic and funny lyrics – “scrotum? I damn near killed ’em!” It made it into the Mefi sideblog (a first for a Mefi Music song!), the Mefi podcast, & it was made into a ringtone.

If you haven’t heard it, give it a verse or two; it’s a really smart song for being so lowbrow.

As appropriate: Happy Memorial Day or Punch Monday in the dick, y’all!

Don’t Talk To The Cops by arcanecrowbar

Don’t Talk To The Cops is a NSFW, educational folk / country song. I like the harmonizing!

Secular Humanist Love Song by Dalton

Secular Humanist Love Song is an alt-rock* ballad (note: one nsfw word in lyrics).

Happy Valentine’s Day!

* or maybe indie pop, I don’t even know

More Songs About Oven Mitts by notheydo

More Songs About Oven Mitts is a laid-back lofi song about a robot made for killing, sadly turned into a chef.

Jesus Loves Techno (porno version) by reklus

Jesus Loves Techno (porno version) is a nice piece of layered techno, sampling a Ron Jeremy video. It is definitely NSFW.

King Of The Road by lothar

I love this song! King Of The Road is another punk, NSFW version of the frequently covered Roger Miller country song. This was posted by lothar as a reaction to hearing uncleozzy’s version, also featured here. In comparison, this one has more fun guitarwork and less pinched vocals.

Server Sound by tehloki

Server Sound is a muscular but laidback song with random samples layered over synths.

Oh, this was the first of many songs tehloki posted. I love his music! His music’s more notable than his favoriting habit.

Plckrfckr by ageispolis

Plckrfckr starts off with robot swearing, then kicks more ass.

(Continuing the week of ageispolis.)
